Costa Rica has two commercial airlines that fly to Puerto Jimenez from San Jose and other larger cities around the country. The companies are Nature Air and the other is Sansa, both have their main offices in San Jose. Nature Air has its ticket counter right in the Juan Santamaria International airport (SJO), which makes it very easy to catch an adjoining flight down to Puerto Jimenez without leaving the airport. While Sansa has their ticket counters just west 150 meters from the airport, so you can walk your bags over or taxi it there. All passengers have the right to check one bag with a max weight of (40 lbs. for Flex fare)(27 lbs. for Promo fare)(15 lbs. for Locos fare) and a maximum size not exceeding 50 linear inches / 127 cm. (length + width + height). Any luggage exceeding weight allowance (determined by fare type) and/or size will be subject to space availability and charged according to the excess luggage fees below.
Excess weight fees,
Over-sized luggage or bags exceeding 60 pounds will be charged as cargo and subject to space availability. Over weight bags will be charged a fee, up to 5 lbs over pays $7, up to 15 lbs. pays $20, up to 30 lbs. pays $40, and up to 60 lbs pays $60. If you have more than one bag, it will be charged as extra weight, and if it cannot fit on your plane will be sent on the next flight with room.

Excess Baggage Charge
Anything exceeding the free baggage allowance is considered as excess baggage and can only be transported by paying an additional fee for it. Overweight and additional baggage is transported subject to available space on the plane. Additional charge applies per pound: $1.00 USD.
